You’ve Decided on Ceramic, but Which Brand & Why?
A big step in any decision-making process is realizing we need or want to make a change.
You care about your health and that of your family. You know we’re living in a toxic world, with many factors and influences outside of our control. Which is one reason it’s vitally important to do what we can, whenever possible. We believe one reason you’re here is because you feel that way, too.
Understanding this is largely what inspires us to seek, find and share various ways to become healthier, step by step. Changing to completely non-toxic cookware is one simple and effective way we can each make our homes safer and healthier. It is also an affordable way to have greater peace of mind and a more enjoyable cooking experience.
Once we become aware of the risks of using toxic and potentially toxic cookware, we realize it’s time to change to safe, non-toxic pots and pans. Once we make the decision, we simply need to decide on which brand and why.
Chances are you’re already committed to eating a lot less processed foods, and to cook with a lot more fresh and organic ingredients. Now it’s time to prepare your healthier meals with completely non-toxic, wonderfully non-stick ceramic pots and pans.
Acquiring beautiful new cookware is always fun and exciting. This time you will feel even better about your decision because your choice is a healthier one.
After hours of looking at myriad options and reading many, many reviews we came up with a list of what we consider to be the top 5 best ceramic cookware sets available.
A Look at Criteria: When each brand is non-toxic and attractive
All ceramic-coated cookware offers some similar properties. They are non-toxic, PFOA and PFTE free, nonstick and easy to clean.
They are also more fragile than traditional cookware and take some tender loving care. You need to be careful about using them with high temperatures and scratching or denting them.
You must never use metal utensils and our recommendation is to only use silicone utensils. In numerous reviews, many customers found that even wooden utensils caused scratching.
Despite the need for extra care, ceramic-coated cookware is well worth the effort. For a deeper understanding of the desirable features, benefits and care requirements, please read our blog: Ceramic Vs Teflon Pans: Are they Safe?
Our top choice is the Tramontina 80110/525DS Gourmet Ceramica Deluxe Cookware 10 piece Set.
As my Mom used to say, “You get what you pay for.” It seems in non-toxic cookware this time-tested adage certainly rings true. Some lesser quality brands tend to dent, scratch and stain more easily, and don’t hold up as well. Tramontina comes with a Lifetime Warranty. Their cookware is beautiful and has lots and lots of happy customers. This stylish and elegant set includes the pieces you’ll need, in addition to some extras. You will find your daily favorites as well as some for more specialized uses. Tramontina is made in Italy and proudly assembled and packaged in the USA. This is an important feature for those who want to Buy American whenever possible, as so much cookware these days is manufactured in China.

Honorable Mention: Most Popular Bargain Set
When I make my final decision I also like to look at the most popular brands. I wonder how they have achieved that distinction, and what sets them apart.
The Rachael Ray Cucina Hard Porcelain Enamel Nonstick Cookware Set, 12-Piece, in Agave Blue is beautiful. It is a best seller, and I believe it earned that distinction based on its quality construction, set size, and celebrity endorsement. At the time of this writing, Ray’s cookware set has lots and lots of customer reviews. The vast majority of reviews were very positive, while a small minority were negative.
The set contains:
- two covered saucepans (1-qt/ 3-qt)
- one 6-qt covered stockpot
- two skillets (8-in/10-in)
- one 3-qt covered saute pan
The set also includes a slotted turner and a spoon.
The pots and pans are crafted with durable aluminum and have sturdy hard enamel porcelain exteriors. They have dual-riveted rubberized stainless steel handles for ease of handling and shatter-resistant glass lids.
Overall, this cookware set is a very good value and boasts many happy customers. It comes with a limited lifetime warranty, although I was unable to access and read the warranty. I also couldn’t determine who the manufacturer is, or where the set is made.
It is nice to have the choice of a 12-piece set to complement the 10 and 15-piece options. Given the number of individual pieces included, this set was the least expensive of the five evaluated here, at the time of this writing. In addition, this set has the unique inclusion of a stockpot. Put on your favorite apron to make a hearty soup or deliciously healthy stew!
The Heart of the Matter
We hope this overview is helpful, and want to congratulate you on your commitment to living a healthier lifestyle. No matter where you are in your journey of taking your health to the next level, non-toxic, ceramic-coated cookware is a very good step.
